Time for a little Covid update from Beerderhof inc™️.
Currently my Canadian work is on hold as all hospitality is closed, and I’m hoping they’ll be allowed to reopen sometime this year🤞. It’s been strange not placing orders and miss the contact with bar managers, beer reps and fellow curators. But it’s allowed me to spend more time with Kieran for which I’m grateful.
Lucky for me the Beer shops here in Amsterdam I do work for are open, and I was able to pick up work writing tasting notes for an impending webshop. Here’s couple of favorites so far;
Single Cut I’m An Alligator
A juicy and super smooth New England DIPA with bright tropical fruits, apricot, lemon candy and pine in the aroma. Ripe fruits and orange rind present in the flavour, together with a mild dankness shining through. Smooth body with medium carbarbonation and a balanced yet distinctive bitter. In the finish a tannic note remenissent of citrus rind lingers, along with a touch of hot alcohol.
Plan Bee Zone 6
Spontaniously fermented and aged in oak on black currants and whole quince fruit. The nose brings an array of aromas including red currant, cherry sour candy, blackberry leaf and a very subtle hint of cinnamon. In the flavour the funk comes through as a light barnyard note, along with papaya, tart grapefruit and more currents. Soft, juicy and mildly puckering. Save this elegant ale for a special occasion.
